In the spotlight

The Eurometropolis is seeking secondary schools for an educational project

The Eurometropolis Agency is launching a call for applications to find several secondary schools (pupils aged 16-18) from all three regions (Western Flanders, Picardy Wallonia and the Métropole Européenne de Lille) in equal numbers.

As part of its mission to raise awareness of the cross-border region, the Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai Eurometropolis wishes to develop an educational toolkit for young people aged 16 to 18. This toolkit will take an innovative and interactive approach to the theme of borders – physical, mental, cultural, linguistic and administrative – through a series of varied tools tailored to the realities and curricula of schools.

The aim is to work with schools, the three Europe Direct centres in the region and Europahuis Ryckevelde to develop this toolkit and test it in classrooms and across the Eurometropolis. It will enable pupils to explore the concept of borders and their connection to Europe, and will have a positive impact on their knowledge of institutions and their learning of neighbouring languages.

Do you know of a school that might be interested? Feel free to forward them the attached call for applications, which provides more details on the process and how to apply. This project will not require any financial investment from the schools. Schools where Dutch (in Wallonia and France) or French (in Flanders) is taught will be given priority during the selection process.
