Speaking French and Dutch
The great advantage of being bilingual
French and Dutch are the two languages of the Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai Eurometropolis.
Being able to communicate in several languages is a real asset. The Eurometropolis therefore encourages its citizens to learn foreign languages and especially those of their neighbours: Dutch for French-speakers and French for Dutch-speakers.
Knowing one or even several other languages enables you to move about and find work more easily in the three constituent regions. The knowledge of other languages also promotes contacts between different cultures, mutual understanding and exchanges between citizens.
Moreover, it is also a good idea to have a good command of English in order to be able to communicate with all Europeans. A large number of language courses and other courses for becoming acquainted with local cultures are offered throughout the Eurometropolis.
