The Dostrade project
The Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai has chosen to participate in the Interreg IV project Dostrade. This cross-border project for the development of the Scheldt valley aims at defining the blue and green identity of the valley and at developing it in a cross-border context.
The purpose of this project is to enhance the value of the entire cross-border zone extending over a distance of 185 km, from Cambrai (France) over Valenciennes, Wallonie Picarde and Tournai to Oudenaarde and Gavere (Flanders).
The purpose of this project is the economic, tourist, scenic, cultural and natural development of the Scheldt valley. It takes into account not only the cross-border dynamics of this area, but also the challenges it will face in the future, the common context and the Seine – Northern Europe connection (requirements as regards water quality and economic potential).
A total of 7 actors from the region participate in this project with a view to defining a common view of the sustainable and integrated development of the valley:
the Province of West Flanders, the Département du Nord, the Province of East Flanders, the Parc naturel des Plaines de L’Escaut, the Parc naturel régional Scarpe-Escaut, the association Contrat de rivière Escaut-Lys and the municipality of Spiere-Helkijn.
Status of the Eurometropolis in this project : associated project partner.
