The Corrid'Or project
The Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai participates in the Interreg project called Corrid’Or (cross-border park of the Lys Valley).
This 3-year project (March 2011—February 2014) aims at reinforcing the cross-border identity of the Lys Valley through the creation of a cross-border landscape park.
The purpose is to develop a green zone and a cross-border landscape park, thus meeting the challenge of the preservation of biodiversity and the development of valuable natural areas. To that effect the actors concerned (Walloon, Flemish and French) have worked out a joint project involving public actions. In addition, cross-border activities and awareness campaigns are organised in order to increase the involvement of the citizens in the project. The design of the public and semi-public sites along the river Lys will take into account the urban agriculture in the area, and special attention will be paid to the ecological design of the most vulnerable zones.
This Interreg IV project comprises 4 actions:
- Sustain the landscape park by creating a sense of ownership at the political level
- Sustain the landscape park by creating a sense of ownership among the general public
- Identify the tools for design and management within the framework of a public-private partnership
- Design of public and semi-public sites
This joint project has 10 partners, who have committed to transforming the Lys Valley into the spearhead of the blue and green network of the Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai:
