Supporting economic development
The Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai Eurometropolis supports business start-ups and job creation schemes in its territory. The aim is to make the cross-border metropolis known on an international level and make it sufficiently attractive to very large companies.
To this end, the French, Flemish and Walloon competitiveness clusters have been brought together to form Clusters of world-level standing. The Eurometropolis also focuses on the employment market, with its three constituent regions represented in the Job Fair and working together to improve the status of cross-border workers.
As a way of promoting the territory, the Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai Eurometropolis also participates in the main European trade fairs, with the territory’s companies represented under the same “label”. Furthermore, new industrial and business parks are to be constructed with the aim of providing an overall land and real estate offering.
The pooling of the assets of the 14 founding institutions will without doubt give the Eurometropolis greater weight in Europe, helping it to become a major centre in the middle of the Paris, London and Brussels triangle.
